Any little thing can be your friend if you let it be. There we go. You don’t have to be crazy to do this but it does help. I thought today we would make a happy little stream that’s just running through the woods here. Just use the old one inch brush. Maybe we got a few little happy bushes here, just covered with snow. This is gonna be a happy little seascape. Trees grow in all kinds of ways. They’re not all perfectly straight. Not every limb is perfect.

Work on one thing at a time. Don’t get carried away – we have plenty of time. If you hypnotize it, it will go away. This is a happy place, little squirrels live here and play. These things happen automatically. All you have to do is just let them happen. You have to make these big decisions. You’ve got to learn to fight the temptation to resist these things. Just let them happen. We have a fantastic little sky!

I sincerely wish for you every possible joy life could bring. Now, we’re going to fluff this cloud. You can’t make a mistake. Anything that happens you can learn to use – and make something beautiful out of it. In painting, you have unlimited power. You have the ability to move mountains. Anything you want to do you can do here. When you do it your way you can go anywhere you choose.

BEER TUVIA, Israel — The military chiefs appeared on screen in full battle dress, commanding troops, sitting in cockpits or charging across deserts with assault rifles.

The video clip that opened a pre-election town hall meeting at the small, prosperous farming community of Beer Tuvia in southern Israel was not a trailer for the next war against the militant groups Hezbollah or Hamas. It was a promo for how the triumvirate of ex-soldier statesmen leading the new centrist Blue and White coalition intends to oust the longtime conservative incumbent, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Election victories by prominent military veterans are nothing new in Israel. Two former chiefs of staff, Yitzhak Rabin and Ehud Barak, served as prime minister. But after a drop-off in recent years in the political involvement of retired generals, they are back in the vanguard, posing the most formidable challenge in a decade to Netanyahu.

Even though Netanyahu is facing possible indictment in three corruption cases this summer, he has maintained a strong, popular base of support. The Blue and White leaders and other critics of Netanyahu have presented the return of the generals as a one-time, emergency call-up for the sake of the country and clean government.

Surrounded by hostile neighbors, Israel has generally shifted to the right, and leftists are widely criticized as naïve and feckless about threats from Iran and its militant allies on Israel’s doorsteps. Many liberals view the centrist generals as the only real match for Netanyahu, who has led the diplomatic campaign against Iran on the world stage and has acquired an aura of invincibility.

“If you are a general, you are not a wimp,” said Gadi Wolfsfeld, a professor of political communications at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya near Tel Aviv. “The wimp factor is very important in Israel.”

Israeli elections are set for April 9 against a background of simmering tensions with Hamas in the south and Hezbollah to the north. For years, Netanyahu has relied on the politics of fear and projected himself as the only one who can keep Israelis secure.

Polls show the Blue and White alliance is slightly ahead of Netanyahu’s Likud party, but it might have a harder time than Likud in assembling enough partners to form a governing coalition.

The Blue and White commanders — former chiefs of staff Benny Gantz, Gabi Ashkenazi and Moshe Yaalon — boast a wealth of experience in tough decision-making, fighting Israel’s battles and protecting its citizens. They joined ranks with an existing centrist party led by the distinctly civilian Yair Lapid, a former journalist, television host and finance minister.

“The population loves generals,” Wolfsfeld said. “They have leadership qualities. They are the only ones who can be in the center and have a chance of winning.”

Gantz, a political newcomer and candidate for prime minister, has a reputation as uncorrupt and refined. Ashkenazi, also new to politics, has a rougher warrior image as a former commander of the Golani Brigade, a macho front-line combat unit.

Yaalon has political experience: He joined the Likud party in 2008 and served as Netanyahu’s defense minister before breaking with him in 2016.

Netanyahu and the generals seem to represent two Israels. Netanyahu’s is seen by opponents as divisive and polarizing. The Israel Defense Forces, the country’s most popular and respected institution, has historically been an apolitical unifier and equalizer. Many view it as the last bastion of national consensus in a diverse and fractious society.

“It goes back to the creation of Israel, when David Ben-Gurion put the army above all other institutions,” said Avi Shilon, a historian, referring to Israel’s first prime minister. “The army became the logical, responsible place in Israeli society,” said Shilon, who teaches at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and New York University’s campus in Tel Aviv.

The lines are blurred between the general population and the army, a conscription force that drafts most Jewish 18-year-olds, male and female, for more than two years of compulsory service.

A dozen former chiefs of staff have entered politics, starting with Moshe Dayan who served as defense minister during the Six Day War in 1967. But they have not always been successful.

Experts partly attribute the drop-off in generals entering politics in recent years to a 2007 law requiring a three-year interval for senior officers between taking off their uniforms and running for parliament. The legislation was promoted by a Netanyahu loyalist and is considered to have worked to the prime minister’s advantage by excluding potential rivals, because the three-year delay dims some of the celebrity shine from the retiring generals.

“The public memory is short,” said Zipi Israeli, an expert in military and civil relations at the Institute for National Security Studies at Tel Aviv University.

The image of generals as heroes also has faded, Israeli said, as Israel’s battles have become more contentious and less decisive.

Still, the generals are seen as the best chance for those belonging to the anti-Netanyahu camp under the slogan “Anyone But Bibi,” a reference to Netanyahu’s common nickname.

Not to be outdone, the opposition Labor party recruited Tal Russo, a former southern command chief, for its No. 2 spot. Before joining up with Blue and White, Lapid brought Orna Barbivai, the first woman to reach the rank of major general in the army, onto his own party list.

The Likud bolstered its ranks with Yoav Galant, another former southern commander who moved over from a smaller party.

More often than not, retired generals and security chiefs have been a moderating force in Israeli politics. Perhaps having been closer to the horrors of war, most have tended toward the center or left of the political map, advocating separation and accommodation with the Palestinians, even if they see no immediate prospect of resolving the conflict.

Opposition by generals and security chiefs prevented a possible Israeli decision in 2010 to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities. Netanyahu has accused Gantz of being soft on Iran’s ayatollahs and of supporting the 2015 international deal to curb Iran’s nuclear program — an agreement that Netanyahu considered disastrous.
(BEGIN OPTIONAL TRIM.)
Since the start of the election campaign, Netanyahu has emphasized that he also is Israel’s defense minister, part of an effort to capitalize on public sympathy for soldiers. He visited military bases and took selfies with the troops until the elections commission barred him from exploiting them for political purposes.

To circumvent the ban, his Likud party filmed a campaign ad accusing Gantz of being part of the “dangerous” left, against the backdrop of military graves. The ad stirred a backlash.

(END OPTIONAL TRIM.)
In Beer Tuvia, Gantz was introduced as a lieutenant general in the reserves but he took the stage in a dark suit and white shirt. His agenda was purely civilian. He pledged to work for LGBT rights, to help Israel’s struggling farmers, to increase benefits for people with disabilities and to reduce the exorbitant cost of living.

“These are people who gave their lives to the state and now their goal is the good of the country,” said Menachem Por, 73, a retired farmer and a disabled army veteran from the 1967 war, explaining the attraction of the generals. “If we put our soldiers’ lives in their hands, there’s no reason they can’t run the country.”
(STORY CAN END HERE. OPTIONAL MATERIAL FOLLOWS.)
Anat Shindler, 58, a cosmetician, said, “I like to believe they come clean to politics.”

Maor Douiev, 34, who had just returned from a trip to India, said his own military service had been “very problematic” and that he believed in nonviolence. But he said he would vote for the Blue and White generals “because Bibi has to go and we need a good alternative.”

A fan brush can be your best friend. There we are. A happy cloud. You have to make those little noises or it won’t work. If you don’t think every day is a good day – try missing a few. You’ll see. Let all these little things happen. Don’t fight them. Learn to use them. The only thing worse than yellow snow is green snow. You can create anything that makes you happy.

Everyone is going to see things differently – and that’s the way it should be. Isn’t it fantastic that you can change your mind and create all these happy things? It’s cold, but it’s beautiful. I can’t think of anything more rewarding than being able to express yourself to others through painting. There is immense joy in just watching – watching all the little creatures in nature. Don’t fiddle with it all day. Nice little clouds playing around in the sky.

Just go out and talk to a tree. Make friends with it. That’s what makes life fun. That you can make these decisions. That you can create the world that you want. Of course he’s a happy little stone, cause we don’t have any other kind. The secret to doing anything is believing that you can do it. Anything that you believe you can do strong enough, you can do. Anything. As long as you believe. La- da- da- da- dah. Just be happy. It takes dark in order to show light. I want everbody to be happy. That’s what it’s all about.

Without washing the brush, I’m gonna go right into some Van Dyke Brown, some Burnt Umber, and a little bit of Sap Green. Just let go – and fall like a little waterfall. Just make little strokes like that. If what you’re doing doesn’t make you happy – you’re doing the wrong thing. It’s life. It’s interesting. It’s fun. Put your feelings into it, your heart, it’s your world. A fan brush is a fantastic piece of equipment. Use it. Make friends with it.

Seahawks safety Brandon Browner talks to the media Thursday.

As trees get older they lose their chlorophyll. Just beat the devil out of it. If I paint something, I don’t want to have to explain what it is. Once you learn the technique, ohhh! Turn you loose on the world; you become a tiger. No pressure. Just relax and watch it happen. There is no right or wrong – as long as it makes you happy and doesn’t hurt anyone.

Just let these leaves jump off the brush This is your world, whatever makes you happy you can put in it. Go crazy. It’s all a game of angles. This is your creation – and it’s just as unique and special as you are. Follow the lay of the land. It’s most important. We’ll put a happy little bush here.

Get tough with it, get strong. Trees live in your fan brush, but you have to scare them out. Just take out whatever you don’t want. It’ll change your entire perspective. This piece of canvas is your world. You don’t want to kill all your dark areas they are very important. Don’t be bashful drop me a line. What the devil. For the lack of a better word I call them hangy downs.

We touch the canvas, the canvas takes what it wants. We’ll do another happy little painting. You better get your coat out, this is going to be a cold painting. And maybe a little bush lives there. Mix your color marbly don’t mix it dead. This is a fantastic little painting.

Let’s make some happy little clouds in our world. Let’s build some happy little clouds up here. I’m a water fanatic. I love water. You want your tree to have some character. Make it special. Even the worst thing we can do here is good. Isn’t that fantastic? You can just push a little tree out of your brush like that. Look around, look at what we have. Beauty is everywhere, you only have to look to see it. Everything is happy if you choose to make it that way.

Exercising the imagination, experimenting with talents, being creative; these things, to me, are truly the windows to your soul. If it’s not what you want – stop and change it. Don’t just keep going and expect it will get better. Let your heart be your guide. The least little bit can do so much. You can’t have light without dark. You can’t know happiness unless you’ve known sorrow. We want to use a lot pressure while using no pressure at all. All you have to learn here is how to have fun. We’re trying to teach you a technique here and how to use it.

It looks so good, I might as well not stop. Here’s something that’s fun. Be careful. You can always add more – but you can’t take it away. There comes a nice little fluffer. That’s what painting is all about. It should make you feel good when you paint. Think about a cloud. Just float around and be there. Anytime you learn something your time and energy are not wasted. Each highlight must have it’s own private shadow.

In life you need colors. All kinds of happy little splashes. Steve wants reflections, so let’s give him reflections. Be so very light. Be a gentle whisper. You have to make almighty decisions when you’re the creator. We must be quiet, soft and gentle.

I started painting as a hobby when I was little. I didn’t know I had any talent. I believe talent is just a pursued interest. Anybody can do what I do. The man who does the best job is the one who is happy at his job. Now we don’t want him to get lonely, so we’ll give him a little friend. We don’t have to be concerned about it. We just have to let it fall where it will. See. We take the corner of the brush and let it play back-and-forth. Tree trunks grow however makes them happy.

Factoid is a relatively new word. I’m pretty sure it was invented by lizard people that are taking over the world.

Let your imagination be your guide. Now we can begin working on lots of happy little things. Nice little fluffy clouds laying around in the sky being lazy. And right there you got an almighty cloud. You can do anything here. So don’t worry about it. Maybe he has a little friend that lives right over here. Only think about one thing at a time. Don’t get greedy.

I get carried away with this brush cleaning. Put it in, leave it alone. By now you should be quite happy about what’s happening here. If you don’t like it – change it. It’s your world. Give him a friend, we forget the trees get lonely too. Now let’s put some happy little clouds in here. We don’t really know where this goes – and I’m not sure we really care.

That’s the way I look when I get home late; black and blue. With practice comes confidence. Get away from those little Christmas tree things we used to make in school. Don’t be afraid to make these big decisions. Once you start, they sort of just make themselves. Van Dyke Brown is a very nice brown, it’s almost like a chocolate brown. Just let your mind wander and enjoy. This should make you happy.

You don’t have to spend all your time thinking about what you’re doing, you just let it happen. In your world you have total and absolute power. I really recommend you use odorless thinner or your spouse is gonna run you right out into the yard and you’ll be working by yourself. God gave you this gift of imagination. Use it. In your imagination you can go anywhere you want. Here’s another little happy bush You can bend rivers. But when I get home, the only thing I have power over is the garbage. We don’t need any guidelines or formats. All we need to do is just let it flow right out of us.

Little trees and bushes grow however makes them happy. But we’re not there yet, so we don’t need to worry about it. And that’s when it becomes fun – you don’t have to spend your time thinking about what’s happening – you just let it happen. I like to beat the brush. The only prerequisite is that it makes you happy. If it makes you happy then it’s good. This is the time to get out all your flustrations, much better than kicking the dog around the house or taking it out on your spouse. Use your imagination, let it go. We tell people sometimes: we’re like drug dealers, come into town and get everybody absolutely addicted to painting. It doesn’t take much to get you addicted.

We’ll play with clouds today. Life is too short to be alone, too precious. Share it with a friend. Nothing’s gonna make your husband or wife madder than coming home and having a snow-covered dinner. Don’t forget to tell these special people in your life just how special they are to you. That’s crazy. Absolutely no pressure. You are just a whisper floating across a mountain. Let the paint work. You gotta think like a tree.

All you need to paint is a few tools, a little instruction, and a vision in your mind. I was blessed with a very steady hand; and it comes in very handy when you’re doing these little delicate things. You can do anything here – the only pre-requisite is that it makes you happy. It’s hard to see things when you’re too close. Take a step back and look. It’s a good way of getting rid of all your anxieties and hostilities. When you buy that first tube of paint it gives you an artist license. A beautiful little sunset. Only eight colors that you need.

A pullquote is a very special thing. Also a very spacial thing, and there is a difference. LOL!!!

These trees are so much fun. I get started on them and I have a hard time stopping. Let’s go up in here, and start having some fun They say everything looks better with odd numbers of things. But sometimes I put even numbers—just to upset the critics. See there, told you that would be easy. Making all those little fluffies that live in the clouds. We wash our brush with odorless thinner. Poor old tree.

Maybe there was an old trapper that lived out here and maybe one day he went to check his beaver traps, and maybe he fell into the river and drowned. I really believe that if you practice enough you could paint the ‘Mona Lisa’ with a two-inch brush. And I will hypnotize that just a little bit. You need the dark in order to show the light. You create the dream – then you bring it into your world. We’ll lay all these little funky little things in there. I’m gonna start with a little Alizarin crimson and a touch of Prussian blue You can spend all day playing with mountains.

We need dark in order to show light. Happy painting, God bless. I’m gonna add just a tiny little amount of Prussian Blue. Maybe, just to play a little, we’ll put a little tree here. But they’re very easily killed. Clouds are delicate. We can fix anything.

Just pretend you are a whisper floating across a mountain. There he comes. Zip. That easy. Isn’t it great to do something you can’t fail at? Let that brush dance around there and play. The more we do this – the more it will do good things to our heart.

I’m going to mix up a little color. We’ll use Van Dyke Brown, Permanent Red, and a little bit of Prussian Blue. There it is. See there how easy that is. Clouds are free they come and go as they please. Imagination is the key to painting. There’s nothing wrong with having a tree as a friend. Talk to trees, look at the birds. Whatever it takes.

You need to have a very firm paint to do this. Sometimes you learn more from your mistakes than you do from your masterpieces. It’s so important to do something every day that will make you happy. We’ll put a happy little sky in here. Let’s put some highlights on these little trees. The sun wouldn’t forget them. Let’s get wild today. It all happens automatically.
